John Hazlehurst Boneval Latrobe (1803-1891) was a prominent Maryland lawyer. He worked for the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad as a land acquisition attorney. Latrobe incorporated the first telegraph service in the world along the Baltimore & Ohio’s line. He was also an inventor and landscape painter.
