John Dos Passos (1896-1970) was an American novelist and artist who spent the later years of his life in Baltimore, MD. His most famous works are "Manhattan Transfer" and the "USA Trilogy." He was well-traveled, and spent time in Europe learning about classical art, architecture, and literature. Dos Passos was also known as a social revolutionary; he studied socialism and briefly followed the Communist movement until the Spanish Civil War changed his views.
