Louisa Ann Meurig Morris (1899-1991) was a trance medium whose control was called “Power.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The most publicized instance of her mediumship took place on January 26, 1931. A s\u00e9ance was organized and filmed by British Movietone News in which Meurig Morris went into a trance and began to speak in a booming, masculine voice about the “cooperation of the two worlds” of the living and dead. Three people sat beside her during the channeling, including the wife of the late Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Another attendee, Lawrence Cowen, allegedly converted to Spiritualism<\/a> after his encounter with “Power.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This was the first time in history that a s\u00e9ance was recorded with sound. Notably, a malfunction occurred during the filming that caused a hanging microphone to crash to the ground in front of the group. While the others were startled, Meurig Morris stayed in trance and continued her speech flawlessly.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

In his article, “Spirit Voice that Made a Talkie,” Nandor Fodor described Meurig Morris as “a charming but extremely simple West Country woman” who became an intelligent orator when in trance. He also wrote about his firsthand experiences with “Power.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n
