Administrative\/Biographical Note<\/h2>

The 2008 Democratic National Convention (DNC) was held in Denver, CO on August 25-28. The Democratic Party nominated then Senator Barack Obama (Illinios) as their candidate for President and Senator Joe Biden (Delaware) as his potential Vice President. Obama accepted their nomination for candidacy and later won the Presidential election, becoming the first African American President of the United States.<\/p>

Suggested arrangement: Series I: Convention publications (Box 1). Series II: Media (Box 1-2). Series III: Ephemera (Box 3). Series IV: Posters (Flat file).<\/p>

Provenance Information<\/h2>

The collection was donated in September 2009 by UMBC professor Tyson King-Meadows. King-Meadows attended the Democratic National Convention and had many materials shipped to Special Collections from Denver.<\/p>

Items were rehoused by Lindsey Loeper, Special Collections Archivist, to aid access but have not been further processed or arranged. A suggested series arrangement is available. Container list provided by King-Meadows.<\/p>
