The microscope is housed in a custom storage box and is accompanied by oculars, objectives, a haemocytometer, a hencycytometer, and other accessories. A Zeiss key is in the box&#8217;s lock and features a stylized &#8220;Z&#8221; bow. She worked at the Carnegie Institute of Washington, Johns Hopkins University and the Wistar Institute of Anatomy and Biology. She also taught at several colleges in New York City. Lewis acquired the Carl Zeiss microscope while lecturing at Barnard College (1905-10).<\/p>\n<hr>\n<\/hr>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"section3\">\n<h1 id=\"scope\">Scope &amp; Content<\/h1>\n<h2>Arrangement<\/h2>\n<p>Single item.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<\/hr>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"section4\">\n<h1 id=\"provinfo\">Provenance Information<\/h1>\n<h2>Provenance and Acquisition Information<\/h2>\n<p>The microscope was donated in January 2011 by Dr. Leonard Hayflick, University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Hayflick loaned the microscope to the American Society for Cell Biology for their 50th anniversary conference in Phildelphia, Pennsylvania.
