Dr. Kuhn\u2019s memorandum assured students that classes would be held on Friday, May 8, 1970 and students could choose to attend or not. \u201cIf the University were to suspend the right of students to attend classes or the right of faculty to teach, it would be setting aside the most important purpose for which the University exists.\u201d Nonetheless, some students felt that the administration was more sympathetic to \u201cunfair radicals than to the majority of responsible students\u201d as this letter to Dr. Kuhn protests. Several written reports of disruption of classes were received by the administration. Impromptu teach-ins were also reported, where students frustrated by national events took over classes such as Professor Victor Vitullo\u2019s organic chemistry class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
