Borley Not Haunted! NONSENSE! says the Brigidier

"NONSENSE," IS THE VERDICT OF BRIGADIER C. A. L. BROWNLOW, OF SUDBURY, ON THE RECENT ATTEMPT BY CHAPMAN PINCHER IN THE "DAILY EXPRESS" TO DISCREDIT THE EVIDENCE OF THE BORLEY RECTORY HAUNTINGS. The Brigadier told the Suffolk Free Press" that he had viewed two people who had seen the apparition. “I am not a spook hunter but a seeker of truth,” he declared. “What is the evidence of the science reporter’s statement?” he went on to ask. “All the evidence that has come before me points to some apparition – for want of a better word – being seen at Borley. No one knows what it is, but any number of people have seen it.” Commenting on Chapman Pincher’s statement that after questioning witnesses at Borley he was convinced that the reports were worthless, Brigadier Brownlow had this to say: “In February and March this year I personally interviewed the present occupiers of what is called Borley Priory – Mr. Williams and Miss Ethel Bull, of Cornard. “Miss Bull told me that one summer afternoon when she was a girl she saw the ghostly nun at Borley Rectory in full daylight. She saw the nun again twice afterwards. “Mr. Williams took me into one of his sheds and told me he had seen the apparition pass a window outside last August. In November the shed was burnt down.”* Speaking of Harry Price’s two books on the haunted rectory, he maintained that though some of the things Price said might be open to doubt, there was no question that strange things had happened there. *FLASHBACK: Borley Rectory was burnt down in 1939.
