Mrs. Bullock

Clipping of article and images from Nandor Fodor's scrapbook, "Psychic Miracles and Humbugs - Riddle of Woman's Change into Chinaman" by Dr. Nandor Fodor, Empire News, October 25, 1936 The images show a woman, Mrs. Bullock before and after her possession by a Chinese man. Her possessed face appears as an offensive portrayal. One image shows Mrs. Bullock performing her "possession" to an audience, including Fodor, and another image shows the two together.

Mrs. Bullock’s “transformation” into a Chinese man is based on stereotypical portrayals of the era that are recognized as extremely offensive today. The article also describes other racist portrayals by Bullock, that of a Mongolian person and her Zulu control.
