Margery and Ectoplasm

Two photographs taken in close succession are stacked vertically. The upper photograph shows a white woman sitting at a table with closed eyes. Each of her hands is held by a person who is mostly out of frame. On the woman's shoulder is a lightly-colored mass with a tube connected to her nose. In the lower image, the woman is laying face-down on the table. Her hands are still being held. The strange mass is now sitting on the table next to the woman's right ear.

The caption attached to the upper image reads, “Ectoplasmic mass on Margery’s shoulder conne[c]ted with [her] nostrils which Walter claims to be his voice box. It is through that that he speaks.” The caption attached to the lower images simply reads, “Ectoplasm.”
