The Albin O. Kuhn Library & Gallery opened in 1968; prior to this the Library operated out of administrative offices in the Biological Sciences building. Phase II opened in 1974 and Phase III, also known as the Tower, opened in 1995. The Library Gallery was established in 1975. The Library was formally dedicated to the university's founding chancellor Albin O. Kuhn in 1982 and renamed in his honor.
