Administrative/Biographical Note
Hugh Davis Graham (1936-2002) was a history professor at UMBC, as well as at Johns Hopkins University and Vanderbilt University. His research and writing focused on the civil rights movement. His book, “The Civil Rights Era,” was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize. At UMBC he served as president of the faculty senate from 1980-1981 and as Dean of Graduate Studies from 1982-1985.
