Abstract:Collection pertains to the research of Dr. Barbara S. Kraft. Dr. Kraft’s files contain research pertaining to the Jane Addam’s biography, the 1920’s and 1930’s, concepts and constructions of the peace movement, and the internment of Japanese-Americans during WWII. Included are chapter drafts and manuscripts for her work on Jane Addams and on Japanese American internment.

Administrative/Biographical Note

Dr. Barbara S. Kraft was a freelance writer, editor and historian in Washington, D.C. She wrote “The Peace Ship: Henry Ford’s Pacifist Adventure in the First World War” (Macmillan, 1978) and was an editor on the Booker T. Washington Papers project, among others. When she retired in 2007, she was researching for a book about Jane Addams and writing the historical background for a book of testimony by Japanese-Americans interned in the U.S. during WWII.
