Administrative/Biographical Note
James Hall Bready was an Evening Sun editorial writer who created the column “Books and Authors.” He worked at the Baltimore Sun from 1945 to until his retirement in 1985, although he continued “Books and Authors” until 2006. Bready also served as the Baltimore correspondent for Time, Life and Fortune magazines and was the designated writer for the Maryland entry in the Encyclopedia Brittanica.
