Administrative/Biographical Note
Grancel Fitz (1894-1963) began taking photographs as a hobby in 1914, in the pictorialist tradition. Fitz sold photographic materials up until he became a professional illustrator and advertising photographer in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 1929, Fitz opened a commercial photographic studio in New York City, New York. (Source: ULAN)

Includes accession PHMS 2011-01, donated by Fitz’s niece Anne Brown in memory of her great uncle.
