Administrative/Biographical Note
The Meyerhoff Scholars Program at UMBC began in 1988 as a way to provide financial assistance, mentoring, advising, and research experience to undergraduate African American males with a commitment to earn a Ph.D. in science, engineering, and mathematics. Women were admitted to the program in 1990, and then people of all backgrounds in 1996. The Program was established with support from Robert and Jane Meyerhoff.
