Administrative/Biographical Note

The Painted Screens Society of Baltimore, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that preserves screen paintings and rowhouses in the Baltimore, Maryland neighborhoods. The society was founded in 1985 by folklorist, Elaine Eff, and screenpainter, Dee Herget, and acts as a support organization for active screen painters, the society’s mission has evolved to include public education and public outreach.

Received as a transfer from University of Baltimore’s Langsdale Library and Special Collections Department in 2014.

Processing Note

The records of the Painted Screens Society of Baltimore were recieved by UMBC in 2014 with a preliminary inventory that was accompanied by the donor's personal papers. The materials were since separated from the donor's personal collection materials to focus primarily on the organization.
