Administrative/Biographical Note

Established in 1991 as the Women's Union, the Women's Center at UMBC works to advance gender equality and promote critical social justice in the community through programming, workshops, and education.

Arrangement

This collection is arranged into 4 series: Series I:Women’s Center files, Series II: Audiovisuals, Series III: Computer Media, and Series IV: Plaques and Posters.

Provenance Information

Provenance and Acquisition Information

Accessions UARC 2011-019, UARC 2012-003, UARC 2015-03, UARC2020-17 transferred from the Women's Center. Accession UARC 2015-04 was donated by Suzanna Merritt, former UMBC employee and the first dedicated staff member of the Women's Center.

Processing Note

Digital files from UARC 2015-13 was been transferred to Library storage. A list of files included in UARC 2012-003 is available. UARC2020-17 contains digital files. The computer media was only inventoried, not digitally investigated or preserved/ backed up onto our secured drive.

   Extent: This series contains the files of Susanna Merritt, a former Women’s Center employee, and her 1993 exhibit “Her Hands”. Also includes publications, and information on the Women’s Center.
