Abstract: | Contains a manuscript of "A Manual on Geophysical Prospecting (Part II With Resistivity Methods)" by J. H. Swartz. The manual was written for the U. S. Department of the Interior's Bureau of Mines, for which Swartz was a consultant. The title page of the manual indicates that it was released as a Bureau of Mines bulletin. The manual is approximately 430 pages, printed on onion skin paper, and contains hand drawn graphs and tables. |

Joel Howard Swartz (1893-1971) grew up in Baltimore, attended Johns Hopkins University, and held a Ph.D. in geology. He taught as a professor at multiple universities and colleges, served on the atomic bomb project and other projects of national scale, and worked as a consultant in geophysical prospecting for the U.S. Bureau of Mines. He later joined the geophysical unit, and remained there until retiring in 1963.
